“Because as Jan always says, ‘If you take care of the people, the rest will take care of itself.’ And it has.”
That quote from AKHIA’s CEO spurred my excitement to apply as a social media intern. It was my “Aha!” moment, if you will. When I was searching for an internship this summer, I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to end up. After reading that statement, I knew I wanted to end up here.
I have had my fair share of internship interviews, but something about AKHIA was very, very different… and I liked that. A lot. Not only did I get the sense that this was a tight-knit group of determined people, but the AKHIA atmosphere felt like a home. I thought, “I could definitely see myself at an agency like this.” Here I am, two weeks in, and I have yet to find something I dislike about this place.
In addition to starting at AKHIA, I’ve just begun my senior year at Kent State University. I am a PR major, fresh from an on-campus internship that involved writing for KSU publications and maintaining a busy Facebook page. You might be wondering why I chose public relations or what I like so much about social media. Thanks to my classes at KSU, developing a personal brand or creating an online reputation on social is exciting, and I can’t wait to dig deeper and apply this discipline to businesses.
Members of the A-Team lead by example and care immensely about their clients, it’s clear they care about each other just as much. I have never felt more welcomed in a new environment than I have these past two weeks. I am going to do my best to learn and absorb as much information as possible during my time at AKHIA. I am very eager and excited to dive in over the next few months, and I look forward to checking in on The Microbrew.
