Director, Channel Strategy

(Full Time, Remote Position)

The Director, Channel Strategy leads a department of content, digital and channel specialists focused on identifying strategies and executing programs to build meaningful connections with target audiences and move them through the buyer journey. This position plays an integral role in building the future success and reputation of the agency, while also being able to showcase leadership skills and set the vision for the team.  As a member of the agency’s leadership team, this role reports to the EVP and supports key agency growth initiatives.

Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
At akhia, you will:

  • Design the strategic course and direction of the Channel Strategy department, including the methodology, process and approach to service offerings.
  • Establish and communicate team goals and priorities, setting and enforcing best practices.
  • Set strategic direction, lead and develop effective and impactful content and channel campaigns and programs aligned with client business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with or provide counsel to internal multi-disciplinary teams to guide clients in planning and goal setting, focusing on content and channel strategies.  
  • Establish benchmarks for campaign and program performance metrics, guiding development of KPIs and overseeing reporting
  • Define and track content expectations to ensure content deliverables meet exceptional quality, align to channel best practices and strategic standards. 
  • Maintain client relationships with key senior level client contacts and provide strategic client counsel to help advance client business and communications goals.
  • Operationally manage a department of digital, channel and content specialists or direct reports ensuring team members are assigned to the correct accounts and assignments for their skillsets, and optimizing their billable utilization.
  • Oversee the output of day-to-day account assignments, consistently providing constructive feedback and supporting professional development through ongoing mentorship. 
  • Oversee team resourcing, and accountability for forecast under direction from COO.
  • Contribute to, and/or lead, new business pitches, responses to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Contribute to content and channel strategy program estimates to help shape the scope of work.
  • Lead future state planning and innovation, identifying trends and best practices to expand, innovate and elevate content and channel capabilities and marketability to clients. 
  • Serve as a dynamic and inspirational presenter for both prospective and current clients, leading workshops and webinars, and sharing POV on industry trends to support thought leadership positioning in content and channel strategy.
  • Serve as a member of the agency leadership team and contribute to agency planning and growth initiatives.

Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications or related field 
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, agency experience a plus
  • Experience working as a leader/manager in a fast-paced environment, with strong skills in multi-tasking and prioritization 
  • High energy, solutions oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, working well under pressure with tight deadlines 
  • Strong relationship development skills; able to earn respect and trust among internal and external business partners and team members 
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude; must be comfortable with continuously changing opportunities and priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and incredibly dependable
  • Comfortable presenting work and ideas

Physical Requirements:
  • Consistently requires sitting for a majority of the day to complete essential job duties on the computer and telephone
  • Consistently requires auditory abilities to efficiently listen and effectively communicate with clients, vendors and staff to carry out essential job duties
  • Occasionally requires standing to scan, print and copy job-related documents to carry out job duties
