AI adoption is moving fast, but employee confidence may be moving the other way.

A new Pew Research Center survey found that 52% of Americans are more concerned than excited about AI in daily life, up from 37% in 2021. And for the first time, a majority of adults under 30 (55%) now say they are more concerned than excited. In fact, 73% believe AI will lead to fewer jobs over the next 20 years.

That matters for employers because AI strategy cannot just be a tools conversation. It has to be a trust conversation. If companies want employees to experiment, learn and adopt AI in meaningful ways, they need to communicate clearly about how AI will be used, where human judgment still matters and how roles may evolve.

The opportunity is to treat AI readiness as culture development, not just technology rollout. But it won't be for long. Companies need to move quick or risk seeing significant short-term labor and quality issues.
