If AI is so great, let it be the CEO!

Covering the week of March 9, 2026

The AI Round-up: Year 4, Issue 9

The modern-day cola wars continue…

This week had CoPilot and Gemini make huge announcements. We’ll get to that in a second. Meanwhile, life is kind of hard out there for a CEO (relatively speaking) as tech CEbrO’s are dealing with high expectations, massive competition, outlandish valuations and…logic? As in…can ANYONE succeed in an environment like that? This is the topic of our first story.

Let’s get to it.

10ish stories – Here we go.

Story 1: Adobe CEO steps down. (CNBC)

The stock went up 540%. It’s almost as if Sydney Sweeney was doing a new ad campaign for them or something.

The reality is…who would want that job?

Story 2: LinkedIn…what the hell.

The new, long-suspected algo has been dropped. And yes, LinkedIn is using (several) LLMs to determine who, what, when, where and why.

Christopher Penn does a fantastic job breaking it down and offers up a free guide.

Story 3: I’m so confused.

Ok, so follow me on this.

· Anthropic: about to be banned by the government.

· Anthropic: CoWork announced to be the foundation for the new CoPilot.

· Microsoft has government contracts, right?

· CoPilot has a partnership with OpenAI?

What is happening. These guys can’t all be in this together, can they?

Anyway, Anthropic/Claude/CoWork is awesome so maybe CoPilot won’t suck now!

Story 4: Don’t let AI do your thinking! But check out our new product.

So much focus on preserving the human in the loop…all while creating more tools to take you out of the loop. The latest? Gemini takes over Google Workspace.

Am I saying don’t use them? Of course not. Am I saying be aware that there’s no way Steph Curry eats Subway? Yes. In other words, be aware of the product you’re being sold…and remind yourself, in this case dear readers…you’re the product.

Story 5: But what will my wife and I argue about?

Google Maps has introduced a new AI update (Digital Trends) where you can now interact and converse with it. This is AI we need.

Story 6: Claws out. (Shelly Palmer)

If you are wondering what a Claw is (personal AI agent that runs on your machine and autonomously executes on your behalf) and the different types we should expect, Shelly’s blog is a must read.

Story 7: Chat GPT-5.4 is here. 5 things that make it better. (Mashable)

Good ol’ Mashable – just give me the five things please.

I remember a day when we thought ChatGPT-5 would be AGI. Wait. Is AGI here? Did we miss it?

Story 8: Labor Markets of AI – a new measure and early evidence (Anthropic)

Story 9: But I said it first!

Ethan Mollick put out a comical (but real) look at words and phrases that show you are letting AI write for you…even if it’s things you would actually say.

Story 10: From the ‘what took ya so long’ department…

OpenAI to move Sora into ChatGPT.

As a reminder, this is a round-up of the biggest stories, often hitting multiple newsletters I receive/review. The sources are many … which I’m happy to read on your behalf. Let me know if there’s one you’d like me to track or have questions about a topic you’re not seeing here.
