Insight Bite: The 2026 American Job Quality Study
Gallup has spoken. Well, actually, employees have spoken. But you get the point.
Insight Bite: October 29, 2026.
We spend a lot of time talking about jobs; how many we're creating, how many are open and how many we're struggling to fill.
But maybe we should be talking more about the quality of those jobs.
According to the 2026 American Job Quality Study from Gallup and its research partners, only 41% of U.S. workers meet the study's standard for a quality job. And employees in jobs that don't meet that standard were nearly twice as likely to change employers over the following year.
The report explores what really makes a quality job — from financial security and workplace culture to development, autonomy and employee voice. For manufacturers and other employers competing for talent, it's a reminder that recruiting people is only half the challenge. Creating an environment where they want to stay may be the bigger opportunity. There's a lot more worth exploring in this report, including how AI is changing the employee experience.
